Historic dress collections everywhere remain confined to archival boxes, nestled amidst layers of acid free tissue. Our goal is to expand the horizons of dress display, creating options and testing ideas.
We want to make dress history accessible for everyone, no matter where they are. We shall explore the possibilities of physical display and digital media to bring dress history to its audience.
We will give a voice to those who work with dress collections, from collections care and management, to conservators, dress mounters and curators. We shall pioneer creative talent and drive exposure for the discipline.
After graduating Costume Design for Film (BA Hons) in 2018, I undertook a Masters degree in Historic Costume at Arts University Bournemouth, graduating with Distinction in 2021. I specialised in Recreation, and explored its application to dress history.
Working on-property in the heritage sector, I see visitors interact with the landscape of the country house every day. It is my passion to create opportunities for them to engage with collections and find their own unique connection with our histories.
Through RE: Dress History, I will be researching the ins and outs of how dress history is kept, conserved and shared. Join me as I challenge preconceptions and explore the latest ideas in dress display, exhibition and technology.
